Grand Fire Protection District No. 1 Commissions a New Station
Bud Wilson Station is a shared facility with Grand County Search & Rescue and the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention & Control Headwaters Region.
The Grand Fire Protection District No. 1 (GFPD) has recently completed construction on the Bud Wilson Fire Station/Shared Public Safety Facility. The Station is located just west of US Hwy 34 on Grand County Road 40 and serves the northern portion of the fire district, including parts of the Hwy 34 and Hwy 125 corridors. Facility sharing enhances multi-agency coordination and share costs while enhancing public safety through faster local response.
The Station houses GFPD response apparatus for motor vehicle incidents, structural fires and wildland fires, hazardous materials, and water rescue response. The Colorado Department of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC) intends to locate a regional wildfire fire module at the Station, while Grand County Search and Rescue (GCSAR) will use the facility as a base for their Three Lakes area operations.
The Station also brings an insurance benefit to the surrounding areas, and residents within five road miles of the Station should consider contacting their home insurance company to update their ISO rating!
We are very excited to ensure faster response times and enhance the safety of our community!
