Training Captain Jeanne Power has been in the Public Safety arena for 34 years and has made her home in Grand County for the last 6 years. Born and raised in Steamboat Springs, she attended and played basketball for the University of Wyoming right after graduating from high school. After finishing college, she returned to Steamboat Springs and began her public service as a Volunteer for Routt County Search and Rescue. During this time, she also volunteered as an EMT for the Steamboat Rural Fire Protection District and as a firefighter at Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue. While volunteering, she realized that a career in public service was her true passion, so she became a career Firefighter/Paramedic and a Training Officer for Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue. Specializing in emergency medical response became her focus during this time in her career, so she went on to train and become certified as a Critical Care Paramedic and a Clinical Practice Supervisor for Summit County Ambulance. After 6 years providing life-saving services for Summit County, she made her move to Grand County where she became a Flight Paramedic and the EMS Training Captain for Grand County Emergency Medical Services. Just recently she has shifted her focus back to firefighting and is beyond excited for her new position at Grand Fire as the Training Captain. When she isn’t fighting fire or training others to do so, she enjoys hiking, biking and skiing, spending time with her family and doting on her fur babies. Being next to the river with her dogs is her most favorite thing in the whole world!
