Michael Scott
Assistant Chief Michael Scott has been in the Fire and EMS community for more than 25 years. He began his career at an early age as a Junior Emergency Service Explorer and has worked his way up the ranks from Firefighter/EMT to Chief Officer. Raised in Oklahoma, he became a Firefighter/Paramedic Supervisor for a rural county service for several years and worked as the leader for youth programs throughout the state. After moving to Colorado, he began working for the city and county of Denver as a Paramedics Field Training Officer. He went on to become an EMS/Fire educator at Red Rocks Community College, as well as a Chief Officer for several Fire Protection Districts. As a public speaker and educator, Mike has obtained many certifications and has trained at the Local, State and Federal levels. He has been the Colorado State Fire Training Director, a board member of the Colorado Fire Training Officers Association, Colorado EMS Chiefs Association, International Association of EMS Chiefs, International Association of Fire Chiefs, NAEMT, and several EMS and Fire advisory councils. Michael has received several awards throughout his career from the State of Colorado. He graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science and a Master’s degree in Emergency Management. When Mike isn’t training or contributing to his lifelong study of leadership, he loves spending time with his wife and family (preferably outdoors!) fishing and enjoying the many forms of water recreation available in our great state.
